Life's confirmations sometimes arrive unannounced: an offshore rainbow, a flicker of déjà vu, or a phrase that resonates like truth. This magic is a pause in time, a soft forgetting of hardship, and an invitation to dance with the wonder woven through life.
This year, that magic also arrived in the form of our 15th anniversary as TWOTHIRDS. For fifteen years, our small and responsible company has grown step by step, guided by a simple compass: ocean in mind, eco at heart. Even the smallest wins have felt like giant strides toward our continuously dreamt horizon.
Such was the evening of the film screening of Women and the Wind, a stop on their world tour, blessed with the presence of Laerke, a luminous member of the crew and right hand of Kiana, the steadfast captain of the ship. In the heart of Les Corts, Barcelona, our own TWOTHIRDS ship welcomed them aboard. Excitement and awe carried us through the screening and into a spirited Q&A, where laughter and curiosity ebbed and flowed as naturally as the tide.
Without spoiling its mysteries,
Women and the Wind spoke not only to the younger dreamers in the room but also to the seasoned women sailors who recognised themselves upon the waves.
The film reminded us of respect: for one another, for our personal paths, for the great waters that carry us, and for our responsibility in addressing plastic pollution, even in the furthest reaches from land.
There were images of confidence, moments of fear, and glimpses of the unknown, all to be broken down by cathartic bursts of laughter
as they navigated in “Mara Noka” - the 1950s wooden James Wharram-built catamaran.
Humour and tenderness braided the evening into a fabric of kinship, reminding us of the primal strength that can be summoned when we work towards a shared goal.
For a fleeting night, we found ourselves immersed in the wonder we so often seek, embodied by three remarkable women. An embrace for the soul and an awakening for the restless imagination, the film also carried us through the lives of the ocean and women, contrasting and responsive at the same time. Shifting forms of grounding, vulnerable, radiant, and resilient.
The journey does not end here, as they have opened the conversation to others through a foundation that creates a bridge for women-led projects to find support.
