Here at TWOTHIRDS we pride ourselves on being as open and transparent as possible. Part of that commitment involves releasing an annual Eco Report, which details both our successes and failures on the choppy voyage towards becoming a truly regenerative company.
We don’t pretend to be perfect, but we understand that genuine structural change within our industry is what will bring it in line with planetary boundaries. After all, that was why TWOTHIRDS was founded way back in 2010.
Presenting our Eco Report 2024 – a document that acts as a launchpad for the next three years of sustainability initiatives here at TWOTHIRDS.
PRE-ORDER Proof of Concept & Zero Overproduction
One of the biggest wins in the report came courtesy of a carbon footprint study we carried out in conjunction with MODACC and VTT as part of the European Union’s CRAFT IT 4SD project. The study focused on our bestselling Kiritibati jeans. It showed that, when sold via our slow fashion PRE-ORDER system, emissions were reduced by up to 20% compared to jeans sold via a conventional e-commerce system.

We also remained committed to our stand against fast fashion excess and the overproduction waste that plagues our industry. We once again declared our production volumes via The Or Foundation’s Speak Volumes website and eliminated overproduction for 2024.
Company Emissions Down, In Line With Ambitious Targets
In 2023, we set ourselves SBTi-aligned emissions targets both for our company and product emissions. These were based on a 2022 baseline. They committed us to a 70% reduction in company emissions by 2030 and a 40% reduction in product emissions by 2040.
In 2024, we cut CO2eq company emissions to just 40.6t, down from 59t in 2022. That equates to a 31% reduction, and puts us on track to meet our 70% reduction target by 2030. Progress has also been made on our Scope 3 (product) emissions reduction, mainly due to our producing less clothing than in 2022. However, we lack precise enough Scope 3 data to boast about this just yet, so we are working hard to roll out an eco-design and supply chain traceability project, which will provide us with more accurate data in time for 2026 and beyond.

As in previous years, our carbon accounting has been Climate Partner Certified, with all company emissions offset thanks to the incredible team at Plastic Bank, meaning TWOTHIRDS remains an officially carbon-neutral company.
Deadstock Limited Edition Challenges
We planned to release at least 45 unique deadstock styles in 2024, in an attempt to match our efforts in 2023. In the end, this wasn’t possible because we could no longer afford to release entire Deadstock Limited Edition collections. This meant we could only release small batches of standalone products. As part of a quality control drive, we’ve also reduced our number of styles overall, opting for quality over quantity to reduce negative environmental and business impacts caused by returns. Despite all this, we still released 19 deadstock styles in 2024.

Financial challenges remain in creating deadstock pieces in 2025 and beyond. However, we are committed to our “No Thread Goes To Waste” policy, endeavouring whenever possible to make use of our off-cuts and in-house deadstock, as well as those dumped on suppliers by other, more wasteful brands.
Recommitment to Community and Conscious Consumerism
Some of the things we’re proudest of in this report are directly related to why our founders, Lutz and Loreto, first created TWOTHIRDS: community and slow, conscious consumerism.
The report shows how we’ve doubled down on our commitment to the PRE-ORDER system as well as the local, family-run suppliers who support it. It also shows how a small, reactive brand like TWOTHIRDS can mobilise to support our community, whether that’s helping Valencia flood victims in their hour of need or educating the sustainability business leaders of tomorrow.
